Who is Getting Invisalign?

Invisalign® straightens your teeth without wires and brackets, using a series of clear, customized, removable appliances called aligners. These aligners are made with exact 3D-rendered calculations to shift your teeth into their ideal position, giving you a straighter, more beautiful smile. It’s virtually undetectable, which means hardly anyone will know that you’re straightening your teeth. So who is getting this treatment?

You would imagine that teens love Invisalign, but what about adults? Truth is, more and more adults are choosing to straighten their smiles with Invisalign. Let’s go over the reasons why this trend is happening.

1. Dental Health

Being able to properly brush and floss is critical to your dental health.  If your teeth are crowded or misaligned, it is harder to brush but easier for food particles to stay lodged in tight spaces. If not removed, the food leads to increases in bacteria, plaque, and possibly damage to teeth and soft tissues. So a mouth of easy to clean teeth is a reason that any teen or adult would choose to straighten their smile.

2. Confidence

This may be the top reason that anyone chooses to get Invisalign treatment. Whether a teen just getting started with dating or a bride who wants fantastic teeth for the wedding photos; confidence is a huge reason to enhance your smile. As they are virtually invisible and removable for photos or special occasions, the choice to opt for Invisalign vs traditional braces is clear as well.

3. General Health

The list of issues that can be effected by dental health includes: cardiovascular disease, dementia, pregnancy complications, diabetes management, respiratory infection, infertility and erectile dysfunction, cancer, and more. Oral health is an indicator of overall health. Preventing oral health problems like periodontal disease and gingivitis can decrease your risk for more serious health problems. See #1.

4. TMJ

Over 10 million Americans suffer from Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, a group of conditions that affect jaw movement and cause pain. Correcting an uneven bite with orthodontics or surgery can fix the problem and reduce or eliminate pain, headaches, and issues with biting and chewing.
