Invisalign Process

Share

While traditional braces and other forms of braces like clear braces and lingual braces are the most common means for straightening teeth, there now exists an increasingly popular alternative: Invisalign® clear aligners.

The Invisalign Process

Invisalign aligners essentially work the same way traditional braces do—they apply gentle, persistent pressure on the teeth to gradually shift them into alignment.

We use the advanced iTero digital scanning system to produce accurate, precise impressions of your smile. Either of our amazing orthodontists, Dr. Dunn and Dr. Schreiber, will use these impressions to design a treatment plan, personalized to your smile.

For each stage of Invisalign treatment, two Invisalign aligners will be created for you—one to fit your top teeth and one to fit the bottom. You will wear this first set of aligners for a minimum of 20 hours per day, for one week. After a week, you’ll move on to the next set of custom-designed aligners in the series. Each new set of aligners will be custom-designed with precision to accommodate your new teeth position, with the exact amount of pressure needed to continue shifting your teeth to the desired position.

The length of your treatment period and the amount of time you wear each set after the first week will depend entirely on your custom treatment plan.

Teenagers having fun: Invisalign aligners are completely removable

What makes Invisalign different?

Unlike other types of braces, Invisalign aligners do not utilize metal brackets or wires. Invisalign aligners are made of practically-invisible, BPA-free, polyurethane plastic. These aligners fit snugly over your teeth and are not bonded or cemented in place. Your aligners are completely removable throughout the treatment process! That’s one of the great benefits of Invisalign. You get to remove your aligners to eat, drink (liquids other than water), brush and floss your teeth.

Invisalign for Teens

We offer Invisalign for Teens! These specialized clear aligners have two incredibly beneficial features—“eruption tabs” and optional “compliance indicators”. Eruption tabs hold space open in the dental arch for new molars that have not yet fully developed. Compliance indicators are strips built into the aligner material; these strips are optional for our teen patients. They fade with wear, which allows orthodontists, teens, and their parents to see how frequently the aligners are being worn. Compliance indicators help to keep teens on track throughout their treatment!

Invisalign for Adults

Braces aren’t just for teens! We offer Invisalign for adults too. Invisalign is a modern form of braces for adults who prefer a practically-invisible alternative to metal braces. No matter what your day holds—socially or professionally—you can smile with confidence knowing your orthodontic treatment is undetectable.
